Who Am I:
My Sewing Style:
This has been a true journey and exploration for myself.
I really enjoy vintage fashion and I really enjoyed sewing the vintage 40's and 50's fashion but I soon found out I was not comfortable in that style. Recently, I realized that I have been heavily influenced by other sewers and would try to copy their style. This didn't work well for me either.
Finally, I have taken a serious look at my lifestyle and I have given serious consideration to the styles I like and what I need. So many things I make I don't wear, they don't fit with my life.
Starting in 2020 I have a sewing plan!
My Sewing Plan:
- I like clean, simple styles - sew simple basic pieces
- I love classic styles - sew with good fabric and make pieces that will last forever
- Build a wardrobe - sew items that work together, mix and match, and be cohesive
- Work wear - I need more work clothes - Clothes for a professional office
- No Waste & Storing - I plan to use my scraps. If I have enough fabric left over from a project to make a basic piece, I will do it. No more storing left over fabric planning to use it later.
- Fabric - I have a large fabric collection! I purchased a truck load of fabric when a local fabric store closed. An entire pickup full of fabric for under $100! Beautiful fabric that I want and need to use but it is ok to buy some new fabric when the project calls for it.
- Fun - I will add a few fun items😀
Why I Make Surgery Caps:
My daughter is a Surgery Technician.
Why Sewingrippedpages:
Why Sewingrippedpages:
I would read through magazines and when I found something that I loved I would rip out the page, pin up the pages in my sewing room or just have a stack pull of ripped pages. My daughter came up with the phrase I was "sewingrippedpages".
My Writing Style:
I am not a writer! I started this blog many years ago but I wasn't good at it. I tried to write great content but found I wasn't able to express my thoughts how I wanted. I soon was overwhelmed and quit blogging. Therefore, starting in 2020 I am not going to get bogged down with fancy writing. I will use bullet points and most content will be single sentences that are very direct and maybe just fact stating.
My Blog Objective:
I want to create a sewing journal as I start sewing with my new plan.. I am so excited to start sewing with a focus and plan.
